Happy Engagement Siti

Last Saturday was the engagement ceremony of my sister in Law, Siti Norhasmar.

The istiadat tunang (engagement ceremony) begans at 11.30 am in the morning on the 17th March 2007 with full of Malay custom.

During the ceremony, she gave him 11 trays of gifts that comprise of Baju Melayu, Bunga Rampai, Sirih Junjung, Quran, sweets, cakes etc. In exchange, she received 14 trays of gifts comprise of tudung, sirih junjung, Bunga Rampai, pot pouri, handbag, cakes, chocolates etc.

Lots of discussion were made during the ceremony, and after both parties are agreeable, 2 rings were placed on the Siti’s finger. One is for merisik khabar and another one is for the pertunangan (engagement).
