Standing In The Eyes of The World

When I was small, I've always dreamt to go to space. Even when I was in University, one of the course that would be in the list of my selection would be Fizik Angkasa. I really love this subject and I also love to learn more about space. Can you imagine, looking to Earth, hanging around with zero gravity... how nice to experience all those kinda imagination.

Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor

Being a Malaysian, I am so proud that our country unveiled its first astronaut. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, 34, an orthopedic surgeon and university lecturer from Kuala Lumpur, will leave Earth on October 10 from Kazakhstan's Baikonur launch pad alongside Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko and American astronaut Peggy Whitson.

It came at the end of the two-decade reign of then prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, whose think-big attitude spawned a national catch-phrase -- "Malaysia Boleh!" or "Malaysia Can!" -- aimed at boosting national pride.

Hopefully, this mission will be an inspiration for Muslims across the globe and recall the glory days of Islamic science and discovery.
