Sakura... the beauty of Japan's flower..

The cherry blossom (sakura) is Japan's unofficial national flower. It has been celebrated for many centuries and takes a very prominent position in Japanese culture. On Japan's southern, subtropical islands of Okinawa cherry blossoms open as early as January.

Exactly one year ago at this day, I got the chance to visit Nago Central Park, one of a great place to view cherry blossom. Basically, the cherry blossom season is relatively short. Full bloom (mankai) is usually reached within about one week after the opening of the first blossoms (kaika). Another week later, the blooming peak is over and the blossoms are falling from the trees. Strong wind and rain can cut the blooming season even shorter.

The picture above was taken by myself in Okinawa International Center (OIC). Well, as a pro-fessional camera lady, I tried my best to give the best shot for you to view.

Enjoy the season....
